A Look Back at the Journey of Workplace Solutions - 25 year anniversary

This year marks a major milestone for Workplace Solutions: 25 years of design-led impact.

What started as a bold idea from founder Maryann Woods has grown into a national designer-led furniture dealership with hundreds of completed projects, a powerhouse team, and a lasting commitment to design that works—for people, for productivity, and for the future.

From Vision to Impact

Maryann’s journey is woven into the fabric of Workplace Solutions. With a background in interior design, a fearless entrepreneurial spirit, and a heart for service, she built this company in 2000 while balancing motherhood and military life. Her goal wasn’t just to furnish offices—it was to transform them into spaces that truly support the people inside.

Two and a half decades later, that mission still guides everything we do.

We’ve partnered with clients across the commercial, public, and federal sectors—bringing thoughtful, human-centered solutions to workspaces from Virginia Beach to across the country.

What Sets Us Apart

We’re a boutique furniture dealership with a national reach—and our clients will tell you the difference is in the details:

  • Interior Designers lead the way. Every client interaction is shaped by experienced designers who understand how to blend aesthetics, function, and strategy.

  • We’re obsessed with service. We don’t disappear after installation. We stay connected—offering day-to-day support as a true facilities partner.

  • We lead with heart. At Workplace, integrity, community, and lasting relationships drive us. Clients aren’t just partners—they’re part of our extended family.

The Projects That Shape Us

To mark this milestone, we asked our team to reflect on the projects that left a lasting impression. Here are a few moments that capture what 25 years of design excellence looks like from the inside:

Ambia, Jr. Interior Designer City of Portsmouth Victory Elementary School

“My favorite project has been City of Portsmouth Victory Elementary School. I was able to build a positive relationship with the client, which led to a few projects covering their main lobby, main office, conference room, and multiple classrooms.”

Danielle, Operations Manager William & Mary – Monroe Hall

“William & Mary – Monroe Hall was one of the first projects I worked on at Workplace Solutions. I especially enjoyed collaborating with the clients and the general contractor—the teamwork and communication made a big impact. Seeing everything come together in such a beautiful final product was incredibly rewarding.”

Jamila, Project Coordinator Hampton Roads Transit

“I love the pop of color throughout the office spaces and workstations.”

Looking Ahead

As we continue to celebrate this anniversary, we’re not just looking back—we’re looking forward.

We’re still driven by that original vision, but with fresh energy and a renewed focus on design-led spaces that empower people to do their best work. Our clients’ needs are evolving—and we’re evolving with them, bringing flexibility, well-being, and modern functionality to every space we touch.

We’ll be sharing more reflections, project spotlights, and team moments throughout the rest of the year. We hope you’ll follow along—and celebrate with us.

Here’s to 25 years of passion, purpose, and partnership. And here’s to what’s next!
